Our Client is a major UK retail Bank. Following continued growth it is seeking to enhance and strengthen its' risk department. Thus it is looking to recruit a Manager, Group Credit: Retail based in West Yorkshire.

Reporting into the Senior Manager, Group Credit: Retail you will:

• Take responsibility for Group Financial Risk's oversight of all aspects of Credit Risk Management and processes for designated Group businesses with Retail Division (e.g. Card Services, Mortgages, Banking, Consumer Credit etc or a designated risk function (e.g. Scorecard Development, collections, Risk reporting)
• Advise, supervise and provide functional leadership to the retail credit activities of designated Group businesses (including joint ventures), in respect of their strategic direction, overall policy, on-going management and control of credit risk and collections and recoveries activity, in order to maximise long-term shareholder value to the Group (i.e. increase profits for the same level or risk or maintain profits for a lower level of risk)
• Ensure that the Retail Division utilises first class retail credit risk management techniques to generate maximum profit and/or minimise profit volatility
• Oversight of the Retail Division credit risk management practices (including credit risk assessment, automated decisioning, manual underwriting, account management, collections and recoveries in the context of the strategic aims of the business area) through attendance at designated retail credit committees and steering groups
• Demonstrate exemplary specialist technical knowledge of retail credit risk (including retail credit risk assessment, underwriting, account management, collections and recoveries and retail scorecards - including applications, behavioural and account management) in the specific designated business areas
• Responsible for assigned elements of the Specialist Retail credit risk review programme (including credit acquisition & quality, account management, customer profitability)
• Responsible for Retail Annual Risk Management Review (i.e. independent assessment of Retail division's credit risk management capabilities) in designated business areas
• Provide ad hoc advice and support to Retail division and / or Head of Group Credit: Analytics & Retail
• Working closely with colleagues from other Group Credit: Analytics on specific projects, with other areas of Group Financial Risk and other Group functions e.g. Internal Audit
• Attend designated retail credit committees
• Development of Retail Annual Risk Management Review in respect of the retail credit activities of designated group businesses
• Undertake assigned reviews within the ongoing program of specialist risk reviews (e.g. review retail credit aspects of pricing / appraisal models, review of attrition, review of credit scoring etc.) to be presented to Group Chief Financial Risk Officer, business area credit committees and Retail Risk Committee

You can ideally offer:

• Qualified to at least degree level in a mathematical/scientific/financial discipline
• A broad breadth and depth of knowledge credit risk management in Retail Financial Services
• A seasoned risk professional with proven track record and at least seven years relevant training and experience ideally gained within financial service sector
• The ability to communicate complex and sensitive issues with senior management
• The ability to challenge and provide functional leadership to the Heads of credit in the Retail Division Business areas through building credible relationships
