Senior Credit Risk Analyst, Leeds

Reporting to a Senior Credit Risk Manager, the Society is looking to recruit a number of Senior Credit Risk Analysts across three teams. The below is an overview of the core responsibilities and further detail around each specific team and their focus can be provided.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake complex analysis and own the production of timely and accurate Retail Credit Risk management information, for review by the Society’s Senior Leadership Team and decision making committees
  • Lead and manage medium to large analytical projects “end to end” from scoping and defining requirements through to the presentation of results and recommendations
  • Utilise best practice statistical, analytical and modelling techniques to perform complex analysis of the Society’s Credit Risk portfolios, to enable strategic decision making by management
  • Be viewed as an expert in the Society’s Credit Risk databases and be able to process, manipulate and interpret that data to support the above accountabilities
  • Have an excellent understanding of the credit risk lifecycle for retail and commercial mortgages and leverage that understanding to add value to all analysis, keeping up to date with industry trends, emerging risks and analytical techniques to continually improve ways of working
  • Develop and maintain a network of key stakeholders across the business and externally to facilitate knowledge sharing and cross functional working, and to be viewed as a subject matter expert for Credit Risk within the Society
  • Knowledge of the wider customer and commercial teams so that broader impacts of work are considered when making recommendations
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and develop Credit Risk Analysts

What you’ll need

  • Educated to least degree level with an emphasis on mathematical / analytical techniques
  • Significant experience of working in Credit Risk (or similar), within a financial services organisation, including experience of at least one of (or comparable experience in a similar field):
    • Credit Risk Acquisition
    • Portfolio analytics
    • Credit risk model development
    • Advanced IRB
  • Subject Matter Expert in credit risk management and mitigation covering secured Retail and Commercial Lending policies, practices and processes
  • Excellent skills in data manipulation, SAS (or similar statistical packages), SQL and Microsoft Excel
  • Professional ability to work independently, under tight deadlines and make effective decisions
  • Ability to undertake complex analysis using industry leading software packages and programming languages (SAS/SQL)
